Callout to injured Mountain Biker near Coulter

Tue, 15th Oct 2024

At 17:27 on Tuesday 15th October 2024, Moffat Mountain Rescue Team were asked to assist in the rescue of an injured mountain biker near Coulter village, south of Biggar.

15 members of Moffat MRT responded to the scene alongside 3 members of Tweed Valley MRT who were also asked to assist given the location close to the border between teams.

Once on scene the teams were quickly able to locate the injured biker who was suspected to have suffered from an upper limb injury.
Members of Moffat MRT assessed the casualty and administered pain relief before the casualty was then safely packaged into a stretcher for transport back to the team VW ambulance. A back rope was used alongside the stretcher wheel due to the steep ground to ensure the safety of the stretcher carry was maintained.

Once at the team VW the casualty and stretcher were loaded into the vehicle and transferred to a waiting Scottish Ambulance Service crew at Coulter village hall for ongoing treatment and further assessment at hospital.

We wish the casualty all the best in their recovery.
